RHINOPLASTY
(nose surgery)
Objective
Of all cosmetic surgeries, rhinoplasty requires great dexterity from the surgeon because the nose is a completely hollow structure. He must, while changing the shape of the nose, keep intact the interior structure and its respiratory function.
There are various reasons for having recourse to rhinoplasty.
Functional rhinoplasty corrects breathing difficulties by improving the physiological role of the nose.
Reconstructive rhinoplasty aims at correcting nasal deformities of congenital or traumatic origins.
Aesthetic rhinoplasty can reshape an inelegant nose and harmonize it with the face.
Whatever the change may be, it must take into account the structure of the bones and cartilage, the condition and thickness of the skin, the shape of the face, and the patient's age and ethnic origin.
The Procedure
The operation is usually performed under general anesthetic and lasts 60 to 90 minutes. Generally, the incisions are made inside the nose, so they are not visible.
According to the correction to be made, surgery is done on the top of the nose (bony part), or on the lower mobile part (the cartilage). In most cases, surgery is performed on both areas.
During your consultation, Dr. Toupin will also discuss with you all aspects related to this type of procedure, its benefits as well as the risks that may be involved.
